In 2018, the 公平、多元化、包容, 和 归属感 (EDIB) Initiative was launched as an institutional priority, with EDIB becoming a core value of the school’s 战略计划. Housed in the 总统办公室 和 supporting programs in all divisions 和 departments, our EDIB efforts are essential to Juilliard’s mission.

The Office of EDIB aims to work on equity issues throughout the student experience, 侧重于评估需要的领域, 分析数据, 和 prioritizing actions to be carried out across departments. The major initial steps of the office formation can be categorized as follows:

 

Formation of the Office of EDIB 和 the EDIB Initiative: 2018年7月, Damian Woetzel began his Presidency 和 identified EDIB as a top priority for the school. After working to identity top priorities for EDIB work at Juilliard, an EDIB program man年龄r was hired in January 2019, 和 in November 2019 promoted to director for EDIB initiatives.

To increase feedback avenues in working towards identified priorities, the 经济重建工作小组 were launched in October 2020. Working groups are comprised of students, 教师, 和工作人员, 和 are responsible for identifying gaps, 提供反馈, 和 utilizing their various expertise to create recommendations on specific priority items. Future working groups will be determined based on identified priorities.

2020年秋季报告 (released January 2021) included the formation of two working groups focusing on the following priority areas: workshop development 和 bias response; ongoing training for bias response deputies; 和 updates from departments 和 divisions on how they have each brought EDIB work into their areas.
